Category for juried fine artists who will compete for prize money and newly renovated gallery space privileges on the Square.

Art Under The Oaks
juried artists will compete for cash prizes. Their work will also be displayed and for sale in the newly renovated Pop Up Gallery on  the Courthouse Square.  Exhibit  will be up for one month following the Festival. The jurors are Paul Habig and Connor Burns.

Artist Demonstrators

Dunbar McCurley:   Hand hews wooden bowls from otherwise discarded tree stumps and shorts native to Wilkinson County—poplar, walnut, cherry, sassafras, and catalpa. 

Dorothy McQuarter:  Pine needle basket maker for over 30 years, Ms. McQuarter collects needles, soaks them, dries them to the right moisture for weaving into baskets.

Mary Liberty:  A self-taught expert in the fine art of hand quilting, Mary makes quilts one stitch at a time and is a member of the Wilkinson County Thimbles & Threads Quilting Guild.

Kenny Scoggins:  A chainsaw artist for years, Kenny creates animals from bears to alligators out of logs of native woods. 

Audra Darbyshire, 
Artist in Residence, Natchez Clay:  Audra is both a functional and sculptural potter.  She earned her BFA in ceramics at University of Florida.  She has served as a resident artist at the Cub Creek foundation before coming to Natchez, Mississippi.

Lavern Hamberlin:  Wood Sculptor
from Fayette, Mississippi,  Lavern is a self-taught wood sculptor who crafts large-scale figurative pieces capturing the human spirit as well as abstracted animal figures.

Emma Hughes: Reed Baskets
A basket maker for 20 years, Emma creates reed baskets in the traditional style with a contemporary flare.  From Sulpher, LA, she is a member of the LA Crafts Guild and has displayed her  baskets in museums across the  South.
