9:00am - 4:00pm
Downtown Woodville, Mississippi.
Admission $5, children under 5 free

The Woodville Deer and Wildlife Festival celebrates the cultural, culinary and artistic heritage of Woodville and Wilkinson County, Mississippi.  Awarded “Best Special Event” by the Mississippi Main Street Association, the 2008 debut festival attracted a crowd of thousands to the historic Courthouse Square of Woodville.  The Festival seeks to engage local citizens in order to build community pride and to enhance the cultural life of our community through the arts – music, writing, taxidermy, photography, crafts, storytelling, game-calling, and cooking.

The long-standing tradition of hunting wild game for food is showcased in our “Wild Game Cook Off”.  Cook Teams present dishes as varied as alligator, duck, venison, and wild hog.  Local artisans demonstrate wooden bowl and spoon carving, pine needle basket-making, quilting, and taxidermy.  Area musicians infuse the Festival air with blues, rock, and gospel music.  Local students read their original wildlife-related stories.  Photographs depicting fifty years of hunting along with dozens of trophy deer mounts are displayed in one of our Museums on the square.

We invite you to share the rich cultural and artistic heritage of our community!
